About me

About me

I’m Dr. Lukas Émile Hashem, an orthopaedic surgeon (FRCSC) and ABOS board eligible, dual fellowship trained in orthopaedic trauma and post-traumatic limb reconstruction. My clinical focus includes complex trauma, pelvic and acetabular surgery, limb reconstruction, and joint arthroplasty of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. I care for children and adults of all ages, and I’m committed to helping patients regain function and confidence after injury.

Meeting people from all walks of life shaped my early life experiences. Regardless of a patient’s background, I keep communication clear, direct, and supportive. I completed my undergraduate, post graduate, and medical training at the University of Ottawa, then went on to complete my orthopaedic surgery residency in London, Ontario.

To deepen my expertise in trauma and reconstruction, I pursued advanced fellowship training in two major centers. I trained in Phoenix with the CORE Institute at Banner Health, and in Tampa with the Florida Orthopaedic Institute at Tampa General Hospital. Those experiences refined my approach to complex injuries and the reconstructive challenges that can follow—whether that means restoring function, addressing nonunion or malunion, or helping patients return to the activities that matter most to them.

Outside of medicine, I’m a husband and dad of two, and I love spending time with my family. Fun fact about me is that I used to do competitive lifesaving (think if being a lifeguard was a sport). I’m also passionate about racing and cycling—both of which keep me energized and remind me how important mobility and performance are in everyday life.
